Global Disaster Preparednes Center Launch

The American Red Cross, together with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, is pleased to launch the Global Disaster Preparedness Center—a resource hub on disaster preparedness for the entire global Red Cross network that will support learning and knowledge sharing for disaster preparedness practitioners worldwide.

 The Center will launch a host of new services and initiatives in the coming year, including an interactive website to foster exchange of best practices and useful tools in disaster preparedness, a research program to build the evidence base for disaster preparedness, and venue to provide virtual technical assistance.

Please join us for lunch, during which the InterAction Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group, alongside the Emergency Building Capacity Project, will soft launch Toward Resilience: A Guide to Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation. 

Also note on Saturday October 13, the GDPC will host an Iconathon with the Noun Project from 10am – 3pm at the same location.  All are welcome to brainstorm and design new open-source icons for disaster preparedness.
