H2P2: Household Hazard Preparedness Plan (KHADEM)

Target population: Households

Building blocks of H2P2: Volunteers

The goal : promotion of Households Disaster Preparedness Index (HDPI) by changing their hazard behaviors from 9.3% to 30% up to the end of 2021 through training and educating Iranian households door to door

Household Disaster Preparedness Index (HDPI):

-The index includes 15 components. To any positive response is given1 score and each negative response is given 0 score.

– HDPI in Health network of our country is applied for Family preparedness Assessment

-The goal is promotion of HDPI by changing their hazard behaviors from 9.3% to 30% up to the end of 2021 through training and educating Iranian households door to door

Components of HDPI:

-Holding planning sessions for households to develop their preparedness in disasters

-Drawing a proper map of living places and identification of safe and unsafe places

-Risk assessment of structural parts of building

-Taking measures to retrofit buildings

-Evaluating of danger of Nonstructural Components

-Taking measures to reduce risks of Nonstructural Components 

-Preparing a family emergency bag

-Family emergency communication plan

-Considering home evacuation plan in case of emergency

-Considering a plan to help vulnerable people in families

-Learning primary warnings of hazards

-Providing Fire suppression equipment at home

-Providing First Aid training courses for at least one member of each family during the past year

-Family participation in disaster management programs in local areas.

-Holding preparedness maneuver during the past year

Levels of Intervention:

Peripheral target groups include:

-Policy makers and senior managers

-Local community leaders

-Reference Groups such as teachers, trainers, managers and so on.

-Group of volunteers in local communities

-Community groups such as schoolchildren, students, staff and…

The main target group:

-Families

Expected result:

-Promotion of households disaster preparedness index

– Determining the relative contribution in the growth of the index. It requires continuous monitoring of field research that is considered as a subproject.

Determining the impact of the H2P2 index on growth of other indicators of development
