July 2018 - Recovery interventions for TS Tembin/Vinta in Kitaotao, province of Bukidnon, Philippines - Families from the village of Digongan listen to the Red Cross recovery team during a community assembly a few days before the shelter assistance payout. The Matigsalug tribe is one of the many indigenous groups from Mindanao. The Matigsalug in the earlier years, are known as hunter gatherers, but the influence of migrant farmers and businessmen, the Matigsalug shifted to sedentary land cultivation with more or less permanent villages. The Matigsalug have always lived beside the Salug river, which winds around the southeastern border of Bukidnon, but are now forced to relocate to a more safer area inland after their villages were washed away when by the Salug river during the height of Tembin.
