Dr. Wakeel did PhD in Plant Nutrition from JLU, Giessen, Germany, in 2008 followed by 2 years of post-doctorate before joining the UAF (2010). He is working on soil fertility management and nutritional physiology of plants. He served as Country Coordinator (2014-2016) of International Potash Institute (IPI), Switzerland in Pakistan. Dr. Wakeel is Co-lead of a UKRI-GCRF funded mega project for south Asia and leading the Pakistan chapter on sustainable nitrogen management. He has published >60 impact-factored articles in well-reputed international journals including a correspondence in Nature and a research article in Nature Sustainability (Impact Factor >27). During his tenure at UAF, he has secured multiple research grants equivalent to 130 million PKR (>70% from international funding agencies).
