Bangladesh Earthquake Preparedness Project
In Bangladesh German Red Cross is supporting Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to implement an Earthquake Preparedness project for past many years.T he project is implemented through consortium approach having, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, British Red Cross and two non movement partners such as Action Contre La Faim and Christian aid as downstream partners. The second phase of the Project focuses on capacity development of local authorities, building local response capacities and developing system for volunteer deployment. Consolidation of the different DP/DRR approaches ( Decentralization, Digital Integration, Last mile connectivity) was also targeted due to the phase out stage of the project.
The attached papers were developed to document the experiences and learnings of this Urban DRR project that continued in pandemic situation whilst addressing humanitarian needs. The papers also document ,experiences of private sector group(Market Associations) that were targeted for risk awareness and how the digital application were developed to help effective volunteer deployment in urban setting.
Resource Repurposing :The purpose of this document was to capture the unprecedented adaptive move by the project and emphasize the mechanism whereby the project managed to extend support to 1800HH of COVID 19 affected in such a short notice which was later scaled up to 12600 through the support of FFOG.
Technological Integration : As a promotional document, this infographic paper is expected to create a positive impression of digitizing disaster preparedness, thereby, motivating other projects to adapt the technological integration
Experience with private sector: This document aimed at self-reflection, the paper also considers possible avenues of scaling up the collaboration for future disaster preparedness initiatives.
