Building capacities: Gender & diversity in Asia and Pacific

Building Capacities: Best Practices in Asia Pacific (3/5)

Red Cross and Red Crescent societies aim to mobilize as many diverse people at community level as possible to ensures equal voices and space for diverse groups in the community to share ideas and benefit from all services.

Both women and men should enjoy equal representation and should equally influence the organizations work so it does not consciously or unconsciously discriminate against women or men. Special efforts are made to include all those who are usually marginalized, socially excluded, and discriminated against in society to make sure their needs and ideas are also fully addressed both as communities but also as members, volunteers, and staff.

In this five films series, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies profiles organizational best practices in Gender and Diversity, Resource Mobilisation, Youth and Volunteers, Participatory Planning, and Community and Branch Development. Building Capacities features insights and interviews with volunteers, beneficiaries and leaders from Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies including Australia, Cambodia, Mongolia and Nepal. The series was produced by the Asia Pacific zone under the direction of the Organizational Development unit.
