The Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction – Building safer, resilient communities

Success of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) is critically dependent on implementation among communities that are repeatedly affected by disasters and it is here that National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies have a strong role to play. Thus, consistent with the HFA, the purpose of this Global Alliance is to scale up the International Federation’s effort in reducing disaster risks among the most vulnerable communities where National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies operate. This document presents the International Federation’s approach to reducing disaster risk and its support to the HFA. Published in 2007.
