State Of Social Media Technologies For Disaster Preparedness In Asia-Pacific Region

This report summarizes the results of a study on teh implications of social media analysis tools for disaster preparedness focusing on the Asia Pacific region. Two methodological approaches were performed, including an online survey and in-depth interviews with humanitarian organizations in the Asia-Pacific region. The findings from both interview and survey data revealed the state of humanitarian organizations’ use of social media and social media analysis and the opportunities and challenges associated with these uses for disaster preparedness.
