Youth trained to save lives: A step toward a more resilient community

As part of its ongoing commitment to youth and community resilience, the Red Cross organized a first aid training session for young people at the Bimbresso Civic Service Center. This initiative is part of the organization’s humanitarian mission to strengthen local emergency response capacities and promote a culture of prevention and solidarity within communities.
For several days, the young participants benefited from a practical and interactive program led by certified Red Cross trainers, covering essential lifesaving actions: alerting emergency services, protecting the scene of an accident, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, placing the patient in the recovery position, and managing hemorrhages, burns, fractures, and loss of consciousness.
Through role-playing, demonstrations, and practical exercises, the participants acquired the essential reflexes to intervene effectively before the arrival of specialized emergency services.
This training aims not only to develop technical skills, but also to instill civic and humanitarian values such as responsibility, mutual aid, and respect for human life.
By training these young people in first aid, the Red Cross helps make them frontline workers in their communities, capable of preventing accidents at home, on the road, or related to community activities, and of acting quickly in the event of an emergency.
The closing ceremony was marked by a strong turnout and a shared sense of pride. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Red Cross for this unique opportunity, which strengthens their employability, civic-mindedness, and social commitment.
This activity thus strengthens the partnership between the Red Cross and the National Civic Service, around a common goal: to train responsible, useful youth ready to save lives.
