Participatory budgeting inspires community projects – Venezuela

This video focuses on a case study of how the Sucre municipality in Venezuela has supported communities in designing and managing their own projects through a participatory budgeting initiative called “Rumobo Propio” and the provision of proposal design and project management training to community groups. This effort has culminated in the inclusion in the municipal plan and budget of a requirement that 50% of the municipal budget must be invested in community-proposed projects.

One in a series of video case studies created by the Global Network for Disaster Reduction.

GNDR, 2011.
