The U.S. Embassy Kathmandu and USAID’s Disaster Risk Reduction offices in Nepal published this series of 4-page comic books for disaster risk reduction in 2013 focused on earthquakes. Thousands of sets of these comic books were distributed in Nepali communities targeting readers of all ages. These stories tell how to prepare in advance and what you need to do in time of disaster.  It also explains what to expect when an earthquake strikes and offers tips to help households prepare. On April 25, 2015, an earthquake with a magnitude of over 7.8M killed more than 9,000 people and injured more than 23,000 in Nepal. In light of this disaster, and with future earthquake risks, these comic books may be used to increase preparedness of children and families in an engaging way. All comic books are in Nepali.
