Fire safety: Guidelines for Human Settlement Planning and Design

Although layout planning and design is only one of a number of measures which can be taken to contribute to fire safety in settlements, the purpose of this section is to bring about an awareness of fire safety in settlement planning and design, and to make explicit the settlement layout considerations that can reduce the incidence, spread and damaging consequences of fires.
