Heatwave Awareness Posters in English (Part 1)
Free printable heatwave awareness posters in English to help communities stay safe during extreme heat.
This resource contains Part 1 of the English heat action poster set, which was produced for Heat Action Day 2022 by the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre and the Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC). The posters use clear, visual messages to explain who is most at risk from extreme heat, how to recognize heat illness, and what to do to stay safe. National Societies, local governments, health services and community organizations can print them for community centers, clinics, schools, markets and workplaces.
What’s included
The full English set covers:
- Extreme heat is deadly: the dangers of heatwaves and why they need to be taken seriously
- Who is most at risk: older people, children, outdoor workers such as construction workers, and other groups vulnerable to extreme heat
- Recognising heat illness: the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke
- First aid and staying safe: first aid for heatstroke and simple actions to stay cool
Some posters come in versions adapted for Southeast Asia and South Asia.
Format: three ZIP files (parts 1–3) of high-resolution [JPG] images in portrait format, sized to A-series paper proportions for printing on A4 or A3. Language: English. Free to use and share for non-commercial heat awareness purposes.

How to use these posters
Print and display them before and during the hot season, when heatwave warnings are issued, and on Heat Action Day (2 June). Place them where people at risk will see them: health facilities, transport stops, markets and workplaces with outdoor workers. Where you can, add local information such as cooling centre locations or emergency numbers.
