Humanitarian Diplomacy course at DiploFoundation
This online diploma course in humanitarian diplomacy is offered by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in partnership with DiploFoundation. It is designed to extend the knowledge base and develop the practical skills of current and future practitioners in humanitarian diplomacy and policy, with course faculty drawing on leading experts from around the world.
The 13-week course covers the full scope of humanitarian diplomacy practice — from foundational concepts, international humanitarian law, and the IFRC Humanitarian Diplomacy Policy, to advocacy, negotiation, persuasion strategy, and practical communication skills. It concludes with a research phase in which participants produce a paper on a humanitarian diplomacy topic relevant to their own context. The course is primarily delivered in English, with options to submit assignments and the final research paper in French or Spanish. A limited number of partial bursaries are available for candidates from developing countries working with National Societies or other humanitarian organizations.
