Humanitarian diplomacy in action in Nepal

In August 2008, as flood waters from the Saptakoshi River raged through far-Eastern Nepal, displacing 70,000 people, the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) immediately provided relief items and other vital assistance. It also found itself needing to advocate on behalf of its country’s most vulnerable people. They joined forces with key partners in the disaster response community, using Humanitarian Diplomacy to better meet the needs of those desperately needing improved emergency shelter.
