The Red Cross and Red Crescent’s Principled Approach to Innovation

In June 2015, the Red Cross and Red Crescent published “The Red Cross and Red Crescent’s Principled Approach to Innovation” to:
  • Highlight how the Red Cross and Red Crescent’s Fundamental Principles guide its innovative approaches to partner with people affected by crises, reach people in new ways, enable expansion and scale, transfer successful approaches between communities, and improve decision-making with data;
  • Make key recommendations for cross-sector collaborators to support an innovation ecosystem; and
  • Call for all innovators addressing humanitarian issues or working in at-risk environments to adopt and apply a consistent set of ethical standards and principles to their processes.
