Fact Sheet: Coastal City Resilience and Extreme Heat Action Project (CoCHAP)

The Coastal City Resilience and Extreme Heat Action Project (CoCHAP) Fact Sheet outlines the progress and objectives of this initiative led by the IFRC with funding from USAID/BHA and technical support from the American Red Cross and the RCRC Climate Centre. CoCHAP focuses on building climate resilience in urban communities in nine secondary cities across Bangladesh, Indonesia, Honduras, and Tanzania, targeting extreme heat and coastal threats.

The fact sheet highlights key activities, such as completing city-wide risk assessments, conducting heat risk perception studies, and organizing heat awareness campaigns. It also details progress toward developing city Heat Action Plans and implementing coastal hazard solutions through multi-stakeholder city coalitions. Upcoming plans include launching an online short course on adapting built environments to extreme heat and creating a platform for urban programming.
