Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance in Mexico

As part of the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance, the Mexican Red Cross, together with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, aims to promote an integrated approach to disaster risk management, improve access to flood and heatwave early warning systems and strengthen the climate change approach in the humanitarian sector.

Mexico is susceptible to different hazards, such as floods and heatwaves; however, in recent years, they have been more intense and prolonged. The Alliance program in Mexico strengthens resilience at household and community levels by supporting initiatives such as community brigades, family emergency plans, and awareness campaigns through resilience fairs. Across rural and urban areas, the Mexican Red Cross also fosters collaboration with sectors including health, education, universities, and civil protection, to support sustainable system-wide change.
