Cold Wave: Marked cooling of the air, or the invasion of very warm air, over a large area; it usually lasts from a few days to a few weeks. Dzud: A multiple natural disaster consisting of a summer drought resulting in inadequate pasture and production of hay, followed by very heavy winter snow, winds and lower-than-normal temperatures.
